Is this just a cost issue or are there other factors to take into account? When it comes to producing CD-ROM, DVD & BLU RAY the final presentation can be spectacular. However, you may be waiting two weeks or more for product to come out of the factory if you choose to go the replication route. Both duplication and replication can offer security add-ons such as copy protection and unlocking codes, however with the advent of the Watershield disc and impressive continuous ink jet print systems, the progress in thermal printing and the general level of quality available form all our CDDE Network duplication outlets, sometimes cost can be overridden by demand. Replication lead times can sometimes make duplication seem like the best option. CD-R and DVD-R technology has come a long way since Phillips Video Discs (am I the only one that remembers these?) and Taiyo's first CD-R. And whilst CD-R may inexplicably not work in some in car CD players ( a solution mostly resolved by sending another disc to the user – it's that random!) DVD-R and DVD+R do not seem to have the same level of conflict with their respective drives and players. So when it comes to choosing which method to use to copy your discs, duplication or replication, don't just look at the cost. Take all the pros and cons into account. It may well be worth paying a little extra to cut down on your lead times.
